While pregnant with Child No. 1, when her “Mommy senses” kicked into high gear, our resident writer ate, slept and breathed all things mom, dad and baby.
More children came – four more, to be exact. And it was only a matter of time before Felicia Pinkney’s two passions, parenting and writing, merged. Thus, that became her “beat.”
Felicia is a journalist by trade, having worked for the Times-Picayune in New Orleans, The Dallas Morning News, Arlington Morning News (TX) and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
She also worked as a catalog copywriter at J.C. Penney’s corporate headquarters in Plano, Texas.
Felicia is a freelance writer with various clients in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. She posts regularly to this blog and at themombeat.com. Her articles have appeared in publications and Web sites from Hawaii to Canada to the Middle East.
A native of Shreveport, Louisiana, she lives in Texas with her husband Matt, who is an award-winning artist and and superb graphic designer. (Sure, she’s biased, but the proof is in the portfolio). They have five children, who range from college-age to toddler.

Hi to a fellow Louisianian!
My three children were all born at Willis-Knighton (aka Willy-K) in Shreveport. We currently live in West Monroe though. By way of sharing Texas ties too – my baby daughter (she would die that I described her that way) is a nurse in Dallas.
I love your funny articles commenting on the real life of mommies. You’ve got it girl – such truth! Thanks for a great laugh today with “5 Signs”. Keep on sharing… good stuff.

Hey, to a fellow Texan! I’m just south of you in Austin. Thanks for adding me to your links as a site you like. I like yours too, so I’m happy to reciprocate.
